G-SPAN is helping to prevent chronic disease in Georgia by helping communities consider how they can be designed to better promote daily physical activity. We are doing this by enhancing activity-friendly routes to everyday destinations.

Who We Work With
The GHPC team partners with HealthMPowers to coordinate efforts across the state. This includes engagement with state agencies like the Departments of Transportation, Community Affairs, and Public Health; regional and local agencies like MARTA, City of Brookhaven, City of Gordon, and the Atlanta Regional Commission, and organizations like Go Georgia and Propel ATL.
How We Evaluate Progress
As part of G-SPAN’s community-centered evaluation approach, we will be tracking our success and challenges along the way to key milestones and performance measures, including:

Development of Active People, Healthy Nation Action Plan(s) that address community concerns

Number of new or enhanced policies or plans for systems change adopted for community design.

Number of policies or plans for systems change for which visible action has taken place.

Number of people living within geographic areas with new, enhanced, or implemented policies or plans for community design.
