The G-SPAN early care and education team is called the Partners in Early care and education Advancing Child Health or PEACH Collaborative! For more than 15 years Georgia partners, many of whom are part of G-SPAN, have been working on healthy growth and development and obesity prevention in the early care setting.
What We Work On
A PEACH Collaborative sub-group is working on a strategic plan to define, implement, and measure our collective efforts to advance policies and systems change in the ECE setting that supports whole child health. Our current priorities include:

Who We Work With
The PEACH Collaborative coordinating partner is Quality Care for Children (QCC). QCC is one of four Child Care Resource & Referral (CCR&R) agencies in Georgia supporting child care providers in 48 counties as they work to become quality rated. QCC is also a sponsor for the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). G-SPAN and QCC were partners on the W.K. Kellogg-funded Georgia Farm to Early Care and Education initiative and have been working together for more than seven years on early childhood health initiatives.
More than 30 PEACH Collaborative partners attend our bi-monthly G-SPAN meetings. Reach out to us via email at Georgia State Physical Activity and Nutrition gspanatghpc@gsu.edu if you’d like to see a list of partners.
How We Evaluate Progress
As part of G-SPAN’s community-centered evaluation approach, we will be tracking our success and challenges along the way to key milestones and performance measures, including:

Review Georgia’s early care and education landscape

Create a statewide early care and education action plan that aligns with CDC’s Spectrum of Opportunities Framework

Number of statewide early care and education policies and activities implemented or impacted

Number of early care and education programs potentially impacted by statewide early care and education policies and activities

Number of children potentially impacted by statewide early care and education policies and activities
